Bigcommerce Signs New Austin Office Lease

Bigcommerce, the leading e-commerce platform for small and medium sized businesses (SMBs), today announced that its 120 Austin employees are moving to 11305 Four Points Drive at FM 2222 and RM 620. The company’s target move date is April 2013.

Founded in 2009 in Sydney, Australia, Bigcommerce opened its U.S. headquarters in Austin in May 2009 with three employees. In 2012 alone, the company grew from 40 to 200 employees globally, with plans to double its headcount again over the next 18 months. The current Austin office at 2711 West Anderson Lane is home to Bigcommerce’s sales, marketing and client support teams.

The 33,000-square-foot office at Four Points is gold-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified and offers a creative, collaborative working environment. Bigcommerce is working with the Austin team of architecture firm lauckgroup, whose previous local office build-outs include Facebook, Google and Razorfish. The company has also engaged construction specialists Balfour Beatty, whose previous local projects include HomeAway, LIVESTRONG, NetSpend and GSD&M.

The new space will have a modern design with plenty of natural light and beautiful views of the Texas Hill Country. Representing Bigcommerce’s fun, quirky culture is of the utmost importance, so the design features indoor swings, an espresso bar, casual meeting spaces, a games room, built-in kegerators and two functional garage doors to open up the space for weekly all-hands meetings.

2012 was a big year for Bigcommerce. The company secured $20 million in Series B funding, added over 10,000 new customers and quadrupled in size, adding 160 employees. Bigcommerce gives over 30,000 retailers and merchants the tools necessary to manage all aspects of e-commerce — from store design and marketing to SEO and fulfillment — making setting up shop and selling easy.
