SXSW Launch :: SpeedMenu

If you had the opportunity to attend the Austin Tech Happy Hour the day before SXSW started, you were able to get an up close and personal demonstration of SpeedMenu as they launched the application in the iTunes App Store, and as a Windows Mobile 7 application. What does SpeedMenu do?

Think about the last time you went to the Alamo Drafthouse. Wouldn’t it have been great if you could order a new pitcher of beer or some dessert from your mobile, instead of waiting and hoping that your server would come around? Or up on the rooftop of the Lanai, you can press a button on your phone and re-order your cocktail, maybe with a lime this time? That’s Austin-based SpeedMenu.

You can also pay your bill, and tip your staff in the same application. It’s fully integrated into many of the popular retail Point of Sale (POS) systems, with support for more being added all the time.

What’s really neat is that any bar or restaurant can custom skin the look and feel of the application, as well as the items on the menu. The company is also opening up their API for inventive new uses of the system, while not giving up any personally identifiable or secure information.

You can download the application today for $0.99. Doesn’t cost anything to download or use at a bar or restaurant.  Find them on Facebook.
