It’s time for Capital Factory 2010 to start kicking off with the opening of applications, startup speed dating, and office hours where you can meet the mentors and share ideas. If you didn’t keep track of Capital Factory in our inaugural year last year, five companies were selected for the program (Cubit Planning, Hourville, Sparefoot, Famigo Games, and PetsMD). The program ran for 10 weeks during the summer of 2009, and ended with an incredible Demo Day with a keynote address by Mike Maples, Jr.
Last year we received over 300 applications from around the world. The application is kept pretty simple. We just want to know who you are, what problem you’re solving, and how you’re solving it. Since we can’t meet everyone, we also ask for a video of under 5 minutes in length. We’ve opened up the application process for the 2010 year starting now. The application deadline will be in late March, but don’t wait till then because we may select some companies early.
Startup Speed Dating
One of the things we’re doing differently this year is that we’re holding some events leading up to the application deadline. Startup speed dating is meant to help do some matchmaking between technology people and business people to meet. Last year we saw many applicants who had incomplete founding teams. If we can help people complete their teams before the application deadline, they will have stronger applications to submit. Upcoming Startup Speed Dating events:
- Wednesday February 3rd from 6pm – 8pm at Opal Divines
- Wednesday March 3rd, details TBA
We’re hosting several events named Office Hours, where you can just stop by and meet with mentors to talk about your company, your application, what makes for a good fit with the program, or other program details. Upcoming dates are:
- Sunday February 7th from 10am to Noon at Lola Savannah Coffee House
- Tuesday February 16th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Union Park
- Sunday March 7th from 1:30pm – 3:30pm at Lola Savannah Coffee House
- Wednesday March 24th from from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Union Park
